Bournemouth beat WBA to make last eight

Arthur Boruc was not included in the match day squad as Bournemouth defeated West Bromwich Albion 2-1 in the League Cup, thus securing their passage into the quarter-finals, where they will meet Liverpool.

Five goal thriller as Bournemouth edged Brighton

Boruc retained his spot between the sticks as The Cherries welcomed Brighton in The Championship. The host twice had the lead courtesy of Gordon Greer's own goal and Marc Pugh, but Brighton managed to equalize both times. Finally, Yann Kemorgant's goal with around a quarter of an hour to play gave Eddie Howe's men their fifth straight win as they climbed to second in the table, two points behind Watford.

Hibs went the distance but crashed out on penalties

Jake Sinclair was an unused sub as Hibernian lost to Dundee United on penalties in the Scottish League Cup. Hibernian went behind on three occasions, but managed to fight back to make it 3-3. The extra-time failed to separate these two sides and in the end Dundee United prevailed 7-6 on penalties as Radoslaw Cierzniak made two saves for the visitors.

Swindon failed to hold on to early lead, succumbed to defeat

Swindon Town lost to MK Dons 2-1 despite going in front as early as the sixth minute thanks to Jonathan Obika's close range effort. Jordan Turnbull and Jake Stephens played the whole game, with the latter being booked on the 75th minute.
