Southampton Chairman Ralph Krueger has reassured fans that Morgan Schneiderlin and Jay Rodriguez will not be leaving the club this summer.

Both players have been linked to moves away from the south coast, with EPL rivals Tottenham Hotspur being the likely destination as the two seek a reunion with former boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Would it be wise to treat Krueger's words as gospel? Probably not. Saints Director of Football Les Reed has already promised fans there will not be a summer exodus before the 2013/14 season finished. That was a bit of a white lie.

Saying that, it's nice to hear a member of the Saints boardroom seemingly put their foot down. Krueger and the Southampton hierarchy have been criticised for their silence during this controversial summer transfer window.
