Southampton may well have beaten Sunderland 8-0 at home last season. But, the Saints typically struggle away from home when facing the Black Cats up at the Stadium of Light.

In fact, Sunderland's last ten fixtures against Southampton - both league and cup games - has only seen them lose once to their South Coast counterparts. Though that was last year's aforementioned 8-0 drubbing from Ronald Koeman's men.

Last season was no different with Sunderland - then managed by Dick Advocaat - emerging 2-1 victors over Southampton whose season came to a stuttering close.

But, Southampton are unbeaten away from home so far this season and will hope to maintain that positive momentum in the league.

Sam Allardyce now heads up a Sunderland side who are struggling in the Premier League's relegation zone with only one win in their last 14 Premier League games.

Saints are without midfield powerhouse Victor Wanyama after he got sent off against Bournemouth last week. While both Jay Rodriguez and Shane Long both miss out through injury with the likes of Florin Gardos and Fraser Forster remain on the sidelines.

Sunderland will be missing Lee Cattermole but welcome back the likes of John O'Shea, Fabio Borini, Younes Kaboul and Ola Toivonen from injury.
