There has been a link between these two clubs in recent years. And that link is Arsenal buy Southampton's most promising young players and they then fail to live up to their potential.
The latest teenager to swap Hampshire for North London is Calum Chambers. The central midfielder converted to right back to get game time at Southampton and now plays the odd minute or two at the centre of Arsenal's midfield or defence. It was a dodgy first season for Chambers, there were far more yellow cards than good performances and as a result his minutes on the pitch have since been few and far between.
The current incumbent of the right back slot at Southampton is also not having the best first season and there are rumours Chambers will return to the south coast on a loan.
Possibly taking the more well trodden path the opposite way is Victor Wanyama. Arsenal are in the midst of their annual injury crisis and will be kicking themselves for not signing midfielding God Morgan Schneiderlin in summer. Never fear they are interested in our Kenyan Captain instead.
In the last 5 games Saints are the worst team in the league, yes... Even worse than villa. In the meantime Arsenal have cemented their spot as premier league favourites before their inevitable February collapse. Unfortunately this game is taking place today and they are heavy favourites. 13/10 for an away win. Southampton are 9/4 and the draw is 23/10.
To the predictions:
George doubles his points for the season with a correct scoreline prediction! Tommy enters the game with enthusiasm, that has now disappeared, he is bottom.

Merse: 1-3
"I don't see Southampton getting worse, Ronald Koeman will go to work on the training ground and they will get better. This will be like a cup final for the Saints, they will be desperate to beat Arsenal."
Lawro: 1-2
"Southampton are not looking like scoring, which is always a problem... They are consistently inconsistently."
Jake: 0-2
In our current form, I see no way Southampton possibly get anything from the game.
Dan: 0-4
"No chance of us getting anything out of this for me, a battering coming our way!"
George: 0-3
"Barring a Christmas miracle, can only see a 0-3 drubbing. A time for Gold, Frankincense and euurrrrggghhhh..."
Tommy: 0-2
"While I'd love to be optimistic like last week, I've got nothing."
Will: 1-2
"Other than dodgy finishing the performances haven't been too bad. Arsenal have injuries, Ozil might get rested. Our boys will be up for this but I still can't see us picking up a point."
Connor: 1-3
