Southampton are reportedly looking to sign QPR striker Charlie Austin to bolster their attacking options.
According to the Daily Mail, Saints boss Ronald Koeman has the 25-year-old striker in his sights as one of Southampton's key signings to be made in the summer transfer window.
Austin has scored 17 Premier League goals in a poor QPR side and has scored bags of goals no matter what league he's plying his trade in: he played in non-league football for Poole Town as recently as 2009.
With his prolific goal-scoring form in the English top flight this season, Austin has been on the cusp of playing for the national team over the last year and he is thought to be reluctant to drop back down to the Championship with his recently relegated side.
For me, I'm not sure if Austin would improve our goal-shy attack given the way we play. However, it doesn't hurt to get him in for the reported £10million fee which is being banded about - especially considering what we spent on Shane Long this season.
Also, it would be great to sign up a striker who can't help but score against us. Austin has netted against the Saints for Swindon, Burnley and for QPR this season with an exquisite volleyed goal.
