Jordy Clasie's move from Dutch club Feyenoord to Southampton has made significant progress over the last 24 hours, with the two clubs reaching an agreed price for the central midfielder.
According to local Southampton news outlet the Daily Echo, the fee agreed will see Saints pay £7million, with that price potentially rising to £8.5million depending on clauses, for the Dutchman.
The 24-year-old Netherlands international, who has appeared 11 times for his country and appeared in the 2014 World Cup, is seen as the ideal replacement for Morgan Schneiderlin who completed his move to Manchester United earlier in the week.
At 5ft 6ins, Clasie is a diminutive yet dynamic midfielder in the Eredivisie. With Saints boss Ronald Koeman having previously managed him at Feyenoord, there is a sense of optimism among Southampton fans that this will be another successful delve into the Dutch transfer market.
A favourite at the Rotterdam club, Feyenoord supporters and players have already started sending their fond farewell messages. Below, reportedly (I stress this - you never know with the internet!), is one of Clasie's teammates sending on his wishes via Facebook:

Should the deal be completed, Clasie will join at an ideal time just before Southampton commence with their Europa League qualification campaign following a friendly against his former club.
