Southampton have confirmed that Steven Caulker's loan spell at St. Mary's has been terminated and the defender will join Liverpool for the remainder of the season.
Caulker, who joined for the season on loan from QPR, was signed to provide cover for the defence after Florin Gardos' serious knee injury.
Caulker made five appearances in total for the club, his last being in Liverpool's 6-1 drubbing of Southampton in the Capital One Cup in December.
A statement on the club's website said: "Southampton Football Club can confirm Steven Caulker has ended his loan spell and returned to Championship side QPR.
"Everyone at the club would like to wish Caulker all the best for future."
