Southampton have hit their stride in the league following a number of impressive results, including last week's point away at Manchester City - the first time Saints have left the Etihad with a point. However, Chelsea are looking similarly impressive as they are breathing down the necks of those at the top of the Premier League following their 4-0 demolition of Manchester United last week.
Saints boss Claude Puel will be missing Jay Rodriguez and former Chelsea youth product Ryan Bertrand. However, following his wonderful curling shot from distance in the EFL Cup midweek against Sunderland, Sofiane Boufal could well make his first league start today.
Chelsea are missing Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas. But, they could be welcoming back their defensive pair of Branislav Ivanovic and Kurt Zouma.
Southampton have not kept a clean sheet against Chelsea in any of their last 13 meetings.
This same fixture of the 2015/16 campaign was the first time Chelsea beat Saints in four league meetings, drawing two and losing one of their previous three
Southampton have only lost one of their last nine games in all competitions - an unlucky 1-0 loss against Inter Milan at the San Siro.
However, Saints are unbeaten in their last nine home games, winning six and drawing three. Their last loss was in fact against Chelsea in that aforementioned game back in February.
Only Liverpool and Manchester City have scored more than Chelsea this season.
Chelsea have won three consecutive league games, scoring nine unanswered goals in the process.
