It's that time of the season when Southampton fans love and loathe football in equal measure - a chance to beat Liverpool at home. This is largely due to the Reds' penchant for signing Southampton players during the summer transfer window with the likes of Adam Lallana, Nathaniel Clyne and Dejan Lovren all making the switch from the South Coast to Merseyside.
This summer was no different as former Saints forward Sadio Mane signed for Liverpool and he has flourished under Jurgen Klopp's management since. This will be the first time Mane returns to St. Mary's since his summer move. Mane was instrumental in Saints' stirring comeback win over Liverpool last season and became the Reds' transfer focus for the upcoming transfer window as a result.
Saints playmaker Dusan Tadic looks likely to play despite breaking his nose while on international duty for Serbia, while Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Fraser Forster are also expected to feature following knocks of their own.
However, Claude Puel's Southampton are likely to be missing Cedric Soares, James Ward-Prowse, Ryan Bertrand and Shane Long through injury.
Liverpool could be missing former Southampton favourite Lallana after he picked up an injury while representing England in the week. Meanwhile, Philippe Coutinho, who likes to score against Southampton, is also a doubt to play having picked up a hamstring injury.
Lovren, arguably the most hated Liverpool returnee, returns to the Liverpool fold having recovered from a virus.
Stats Zone:
Southampton have won one game of their last five against Liverpool, losing three and drawing one.
Saints have also won only one of their last five league games - drawing two and losing two.
Only Liverpool and Manchester United (16) have won more Premier League games than Southampton (15) in 2016.
Saints have dropped a league-high eight points from leading positions this season.
Bad news for Southampton - Liverpool have recovered the most points from losing positions in the league so far with six points salvaged.
Liverpool are unbeaten in nine league matches - winning seven and drawing two.
This is Liverpool's best start to a Premier League season since the 2008/09 season, when they also had 26 points after 11 games.
