Hull City came from behind to defeat Southampton and end a run of six-straight Premier League defeats.

Second half goals from Robert Snodgrass and Michael Dawson cancelled out Charlie Austin’s fifth-minute penalty.

Tenth-place Southampton earned a famous win midweek against Inter Milan, but have suffered consecutive league losses either side.

Hull City remains in the bottom three despite the win and moves level on 10 points with West Brom.

Maya Yoshida, who made his first league start since opening day, won Southampton a penalty after being brought down by Curtis Davies in the 5th minute.

Austin stepped up before slotting home from the spot to give Southampton an early 1-0 lead.

Hull City was forced into the first of two changes when Abel Hernandez made way for Dieumerci Mbokani through injury inside 10 minutes.

Will Keane then went down with a 26th-minute injury and was replaced by Snodgrass.

Jordy Clasie had a chance to double the advantage before halftime, but his effort from well outside the box was sent straight into the keeper’s grasp.

Southampton maintained pressure after the restart earning two corner kicks in the opening five minutes.

From the second, Virgil van Dijk saw his looping header clip the top of the bar before going over.

But the visitors would rue their missed opportunities, as Snodgrass drew the hosts level on 61 minutes turning in Sam Clucas’ pass across the box.

Michael Dawson made it 2-1 to Hull just 120 seconds later when he headed beyond Fraser Forster from Snodgrass’ free-kick delivery.

Southampton’s goalscorer Austin had a chance to double his tally, but he fired a shot straight at the keeper on 76 minutes before a curling effort was also saved three minutes from full-time.

Hull City withstood a barrage of chances with Marshall denying Yoshida’s header in stoppage time.
