Victor Wanyama Is Still The go-to Guy In Midfield

At the beginning of Wanyama's 5-game suspension, I wrote that Oriol Romeu would take the starting spot away. That is not the case.

Love him or hate him, Victor Wanyama is back and will more than likely be in the XI that takes on Liverpool this Sunday. Admittedly, I have been harsh on Victor throughout the season. I personally have said that Oriol Romeu should start over him, and while Oriol may one day be our new Victor Wanyama, he isn't quite there.

Oriol Romeu showed his qualities during Wanyama's suspension, however, there were times that made you hope Victor was coming on. Victor is a great player for us, and after a few weeks worth of rest, he will be a force in the midfield come Sunday in a much-needed game against hated Liverpool. While some of his skill and hype were inflated with Morgan Schneiderlin paired with him, he is still a solid player in the midfield whether he is paired with Jordy Clasie or even James Ward-Prowse.

In other team news, captain Jose Fonte is back after his 1-game suspension. He will of course make his way back into the XI and solidify the strong backline pairing he has with Virgil van Dijk.

Also, Sadio Mane will play Sunday after his red card was rescinded following the win at Stoke. It was a poor sending off to start with, but I am happy that the FA made it right by allowing Sadio to play freely.
