Prediction League: A trip to the league leaders

Saints take on surprise league leaders at the King Power on Sunday. It should be a home banker but this season it feels like anything could happen.

Following Tottenham's draw yesterday evening the foxes can take a seven-point lead with victory today. In the post match presser at Anfield, former saints hero and current saints hate figure, Mauricio Pochettino said "I hope Southampton help us".

It's comments like this that remind us maybe Paul Johnson wasn't quite so wrong-headed with his twitter enraging article yesterday.

No matter whether you want a saints victory or not tomorrow it seems unlikely looking at the stats. Leicester haven't been beaten at home since Arsenal were good back in late 2015. They have netted in their last 11 straight and the saints haven't kept a clean sheet in 5.

The league leaders may be the best away team by some distance but they are also have the best record at home. As we found out last season, the King Power currently houses the leagues most vociferous home supporters and a saints win really would be a shock.

To the predictions:

I was 6 minutes from getting the correct score last time out. Then Mané ruined it all. Sadio you magnificent, prediction  ruining, bastard.

*Latecomers to the league

Merse: 1-1
"Southampton are a decent side, Shane Long will cause problems, and Leicester will have to attack. The pressure has been getting to Leicester a bit, they haven't been great lately and they have just got over the line in a few games."

Lawro: 2-0
"I spoke to Southampton striker Shane Long after he had played for the Republic of Ireland against Slovakia - he wasn't moving great and had come off with a knee injury at half-time, so it will be interesting to see if he plays."

Connor: 1-2
"For some reason, I've got a strange feeling that we're going to win this one. Leicester are winning by the odd goal here and there so hopefully if we can keep a clean sheet that gives us a great chance. I think they'll score, but I'll go for Saints to win this 2-1."

Dan: 1-1
"Also fancy us to get a result here. Something has clicked recently and I think we're in for a strong end to the season (for a change). 1-1 for me, with Pelle and Mane continuing their form."

Tommy: 1-1
"Count me for a 1-1 draw as well. We look good, Leicester are also obviously very good as well. A draw would be a good point towards Europe too."

Jake: 1-1
"I'm also optimistic this week - annoyingly so. There's nothing more I'd rather see than Leicester pip Spurs to the post and win the league. But, I feel we're going to fuck things up for Leicester with an annoying 1-1 draw."

George: 1-1
"I've got a weird feeling that Saints are gonna get something. 1-1, Van Dijk."

Will: 1-0
"Leicester keep winning one nil. I'll go for that."

Paul: 2-0
"2-0 Leicester. COME ON FOXES!"
