Sadio Mané has undergone a medical today ahead of a club record move to Liverpool.

The transfer, believed to be £34m rising to £36m, will edge just past Luke Shaw's move to Manchester United two summers ago in the biggest fee Saints have received for an outgoing player.

The Senegalese forward joined Southampton on transfer deadline day in summer 2014 from Red Bull Salzburg for a reported fee of £11.8m.

In his two year spell at St. Mary's, the 24 year old has scored 21 goals including the double that helped Saints come from 2-0 down against Liverpool to win 3-2 last season. He also scored in his other two games against Liverpool last campaign.

With two years left on his contract and persistent speculation over his Southampton future, Mané's exit will see Saints recoup around triple of what they paid initially for the forward.

During his first season with Saints, Mané broke the Premier League record of the fastest hat trick after netting three goals in two minutes and 56 seconds against Aston Villa.
