Virgin Media are the new main club sponsor

Southampton have a new main sponsor. How much do we get? And will it ruin the shirt?

The old saying "the enemy of your enemy is your friend" is certainly true today. For decades haggard media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been the scourge of our planet. His newspapers pollute minds throughout the UK daily and the fox news shit show has destroyed the American politcal discourse. He is the reason Donald Trump is 2/1 to be the next president and why Boris Johnson is a stupid referendum victory away from being Britain's next leader.

The antipodean dinosaur was also the catalyst that lead to many of the ills that blight modern football in this country. Sky Sports has dumped untold riches into the coffers of our clubs and changed the face of our sport for the worse.

So let us embrace our new "strategic partners". Providers of super fast broadband where the giant horror of a corporation British Telecom have failed this country so poorly.

Obviously they aren't telling us the monetary details of the deal, but you can guarantee it'll be a lot more than the previous sponsors' £1m per year deal. It will also be a hell of a lot less than the £50m per year Manchester United rake in from their shirt sponsor.

Virgin media may be the guilt free alternative to Sky and BT, but their TV and internet packages are not a cheap product. This deal should take us a little closer to the earning power of the other premier league clubs challenging for Europe.

The most important aspect of all this is whether the logo will ruin our lovely new Under Armour kits. The logo looks like so:

VMlogo

Bleurgh. Luckily a slightly less busy version exists.

VMlogo2

Not too bad. Its red and white which means it wont clash with our beloved stripes. Unfortunately it might mean they will have to be a box of something around the logo.

The deal has been rumoured for a while and mock ups have been on the internet for just as long.

This one showing how it might look on the kit.

So all in all, not too bad.

That's about as much chat as I can muster about a business deal.

Just two days to go to the Euros.

God I miss football.
