Young Southampton striker Sam Gallagher has left the club for Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan deal.
The towering 20-year-old forward had an unsuccessful loan spell at MK Dons in the Championship last year and, coincidentally, scored the winner for the Southampton Under-21s as they defeated Blackburn in the U21 Premier League cup final upon his return from Milton Keynes.
Hopefully, this move will see Gallagher earn some valuable playing time in England's second tier. The 20-year-old is expected to go straight into Rovers' squad on Saturday against local rivals Wigan Athletic.
It's a positive move for Sam. But, this means Saints only have three recognised strikers in their squad - Jay Rodriguez, Shane Long and Charlie Austin. Let's hope this move is worthwhile.
