In a weekend where transfer news surrounding the Saints has been heating up, Southampton are reportedly close to signing Romanian international winger Nicolae Stanciu.

The 23-year old is coming off his best season last year with Romanian club Steaua București scoring 12 goals in 28 matches. According to some reports out of Romania, Bucuresti could be on his way to England following his clubs clash against Manchester City.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is confident that the Red's could be close to sealing the signature of Jose Fonte in the coming weeks. This all comes despite the fact that Fonte has a new offer on the table with Southampton.

Whatever the outcome of this entire saga, Jose Fonte and Southampton need a conclusion to these constant rumors. Getting any deal done soon is a must at this stage so that Southampton can have time to sort out any replacements for the position.

Just to break up the transfer rumors here, Oriol Romeu has revealed through social media that his injury that he sustained against United was "nothing serious".

This news is absolutely the best I've heard all day. Given the upcoming Europa League slate, Southampton needs as much depth and talent as they can get their hands on at this point.

Back to the transfer news, West Brom are attempting to make a move for Saints striker Jay Rodriguez. According to reports the move would be a season long loan with Rodriguez extremely interested.

Jay, Jay, Jay... Please don't go. With the Europa League and Premier League ramping up in the coming months, Rodriguez will be getting the first team action he is currently looking for. Please, just show some patience.

Turkish giant Galatasaray are reportedly lining up a bid for Saints midfield Jordy Clasie whose future has been put into doubt over the last few months given his struggling debut season last year.

This news to me is a little out of the blue. While Clasie was a bit of a flop last season, the extra fixture this season call for some added depth. Unless Southampton get an offer they can't refuse, I believe keeping Clasie for at least one more season will benefit both in the long run.

Have you seen?

While I disagree with the ranking, this picture is a nice group shot of some of the Saints best youth products. While it's not good to always dwell on the past, this shot reminds me of just what could have been for Southampton.
