Alex McCarthy Called-Up For England

This probably wouldn't be as cool of a story if Fraser Forster was out long-term with a knock, but it's been reported that the injury is only minor, so, celebrate, Saints fans!

England will play Slovakia for a World Cup qualifier, and McCarthy will look to make his first appearance with the squad.

McCarthy has three caps for the England U-21 side, but has never appeared for the senior team.

McCarthy has yet to make a first-team appearance for Saints, however he did feature for the Saints U-23 side against Charlton Athletic, where he held a clean-sheet and missed a penalty-kick.
