Claude Puel and his Southampton side will be hoping to use another cup competition to alleviate any pressure they're feeling thanks to poor league form which has seen Saints lose three games in a row.

Puel, criticised for his insistence on squad rotation, is likely to rotate his team once again on Saturday afternoon—giving younger players a chance at first team football, something not seen under Ronald Koeman's tenure at the club.

While back from suspension, Virgil van Dijk appears unlikely to play. Meanwhile, the Dutchman's fellow centre half and Saints captain Jose Fonte is not expected to feature following his controversial transfer request.

Norwich are having a tough time of it themselves and are in poor form in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League last season. Like Puel, Norwich manager Alex Neal is feeling the heat from the club's supporters.

The Canaries are without the banned Robbie Brady and Neal may rotate his squad like Saints.

Out-of-favour goalkeeper Michael McGovern is expected to start, while Steven Whittaker, Ryan Bennett, Alex Pritchard, Josh Murphy and Kyle are also set to feature.

Stats Zone:

This will be the fourth FA Cup tie between Norwich and Southampton, with the Saints winning most recent in the fifth round in February 2003 on their way to the final, where they lost to Arsenal.

The only previous FA Cup meeting between the sides at Carrow Road came in a sixth-round replay in March 1992 - Norwich won 2-1.

The Canaries have progressed from just four of their last 18 third-round ties, and have failed to do so in each of the last three seasons, losing 3-0 to Manchester City last season.

Southampton haven't scored on any of their last three visits to Carrow Road, all Premier League matches between March 2013 and January 2016 (D1 L2).

Oriol Romeu scored in his only FA Cup appearance for Southampton, against Crystal Palace last January.
