The Spanish sports press have linked Southampton with a move for Barcelona forward Paco Alcacer in the January transfer window.

Diario Sport [H/T ClubCall] claims Alcacer, who Barcelona signed from Valencia in a 30million Euro deal in the 2016 summer transfer window, has been told he can leave the Catalan giants after struggling to hold down a regular place in the Barca starting XI.

The same report claims Southampton would face competition from Premier League strugglers Crystal Palace for the Spaniard’s signature.

Southampton have struggled in front of goal for some time and would welcome a new addition to help revitalise its flagging attack.

Saints have failed to score in eight of their last nine home league games.

Alcacer netted six league goals in 21 appearances—the majority as a substitute—during his debut season at Barcelona following a return of 30 goals in 93 games for Valencia.
