Ronald Koeman interested in signing Southampton's Cuco Martina to bolster Everton backline

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is preparing another move to sign Southampton right-back Cuco Martina in the summer according to the Daily Star.

Koeman, who signed Martina from the Eredivisie while in charge of Saints, already attempted signing the Curacao captain last summer. However, that move fell through when Southampton's new signing Jeremy Pied suffered an injury not long after moving to the club.

Now, it's thought Martina is back on Koeman's radar after Everton's Seamus Coleman, one of the league's best right-backs, suffered a broken leg at the hands of Wales' Neil Taylor while on international duty for the Republic of Ireland.

Martina's two-year contract expires in the summer, so the Toffees could get their man for nothing come July 1st.

Martina hasn't featured for Saints since a 5-0 home drubbing at the hands of Arsenal in the FA Cup back in January.
