Arsenal have two suspensions and an injury for three key defensive players ahead of their Southampton match

Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis will be suspended for Arsenal’s trip to Southampton next week.

The pair were booked in Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield on Saturday, resulting in a one-game ban for picking up five yellow cards each in total.

This comes as another defender, Rob Holding, picked up an injury earlier this week. [H/T Arseblog]

Arsenal are in fine form under Unai Emery at the minute, but these omissions from next week’s Premier League tie against Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints will provide the Spanish coach with a bit of a selection headache.

Nacho Monreal has only just returned to the fold after he was sidelined with injury, while veteran centre-half Laurent Koscielny hasn’t featured since suffering an Achilles injury back in May. Koscielny, however, is back in training.

Given how impotent Saints’ attack is, us Southampton fans will happily see all of our opposition’s preferred backlines suspended or injured.
