Southampton linked to signing yet another Celtic player

Southampton and Celtic signings have been a match made in heaven so far...

Southampton are targeting Celctic midfielder Tom Rogic for a summer transfer according to BBC Scotland.

The 25-year-old Australian international, who is set to represent his country at the upcoming 2018 World Cup in Russia, has just helped his club to their seventh consecutive title following a 5-0 win over Rangers - a game which saw Rogic grab Celtic’s fourth goal.

It’s unclear whether Southampton will pursue Rogic if they are relegated from the Premier League this season. Mark Hughes’ Saints currently lie in the relegation zone, one point away from safety.

Rogic has collected three league titles, two Scottish Cups, and two League Cups while at Celtic, scoring 19 goals in 79 league appearances for the Glasgow club.

The midfielder has just a year remaining on his Celtic contract.

Saints have history in being suitors for Celtic players, having previously signed Victor Wanyama, Fraser Forster, and Virgil van Dijk from the club. It’s fair to say all three have been shrewd signings for Southampton.

Let’s hope Rogic is next on the list of Saints’ Celtic summer signing success stories (is that enough alliteration for you?).
