Interest is quite rightly piqued when you hear Southampton are being linked to the transfer of Liverpool’s Danny Ings.
Firstly, Winchester-born Ings grew up in Netley as a Southampton fan. Secondly, the flow of transfer traffic between the two clubs is very much one-sided with a plethora of Saints players seemingly moving to Merseyside on a whim.
However, according to local Southampton newspaper the Daily Echo, Saints are not interested in signing the Liverpool striker.

The Echo says reports - such as this one peddled by ESPNFC - are “wide of the mark”.
Since moving to Liverpool from Burnley in the 2015 summer transfer window, Ings has only made 25 appearances for the club, scoring four goals during his injury-ravaged stay in the North West of England.
Southampton manager Mark Hughes has already spent a reported £51m on four players in this summer’s transfer window, with Celtic’s Stuart Armstrong, FC Basel’s Mohamed Elyounoussi, Manchester City’s Angus Gunn, and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Jannik Vestergaard signing contracts to make St. Mary’s their home.
