Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini is set to stay at the club for another season, says his agent Silvio Pagliari.
Pagliari is usually talking to the press, touting Gabbiadini with moves away from Saints, but he has changed his tune when speaking to Italian press this week. [H/T the Daily Echo]
According to the agent, Gabbiadini has rejected a number of moves back to his native Italy.
He said: “Gabbiadini definitely stays at Southampton, and we have to overturn last year’s performance in which we did not do very well. The team suffered a lot: a few goals, a very strange championship despite being very strong.
“A few requests from Italian clubs came but he feels at the top in the Premier League, also for how football is lived. It’s another world.”
Gabbiadini got off to a great start with Southampton, scoring six goals in his first five games. However, since that purple patch in form, the striker has scored just five goals in 41 appearances for the club.
Due to his early form at Saints, Gabbiadini has become a firm favourite among Southampton fans in spite of his misfiring last season. Though, the Italian did net the decisive goal against Swansea City last season which essentially secured Southampton’s place in the Premier League.
Here’s hoping Gabbiadini’s decision to stick it out with Saints works out with plenty of top performances and goals - paying dividends for him, the club, and an agent who was seemingly desperate to get Gabbiadini out of the club merely weeks ago.
