Sam McQueen is the latest Southampton academy product being linked with a loan away from the club.
This follows the rumours surrounding James Ward-Prowse and his future at Saints, as he is linked with a £10m transfer to Watford.
According to a report from Football Insider, left-back McQueen is Bristol City manager Lee Johnson’s top target as Joe Bryan looks set to leave for Aston Villa.
McQueen is under contract at Southampton until 2021, but only started two games for Saints in all competitions last season.
And with Matt Targett now back at the club following last season’s loan move to Fulham, as well as first-choice left-back Ryan Bertrand looking unlikely to lose his place in the side, McQueen’s playing time at Saints could be hindered further.
A loan move to Bristol City could work wonders for McQueen like Targett’s to Fulham last season. I’m all for this.
