Southampton are hopeful striker Danny Ings will be available for the game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday.
Ings, on loan from Liverpool ahead of a permanent move, has been suffering from blisters picked up in the game against Everton.
Since then, he featured and scored against Crystal Palace in Saints’ 2-0 away win at Selhurst Park, but has put up with the pain thanks to injections and hasn’t been training to help those blisters heal.
But at the pre-match press conference, Saints manager Mark Hughes said Ings could feature on Monday night after using the international break to recover.
“Danny has a bad blister. He tore a chunk of skin off his foot against Everton and he was taking painkillers to stop the pain,” Hughes said [H/T Ben Dinnery].
“He’s not having injections anymore and he’s back in training, so we’re hoping there are no more problems with that.”
Ings has been a key addition to Southampton’s frontline since his summer move, scoring two goals in four games.
