Celta Vigo are talking to Southampton about the potential signing of defender Wesley Hoedt according to Sky Sports.
Their report says Hoedt would initially move to the La Liga club on loan before completing a full transfer in the summer transfer window.
Earlier in January, Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl said Hoedt should follow his former colleagues Steven Davis and Manolo Gabbiadini in finding a new club.
“For Wesley it can be the same [as Gabbiadini and Davis]. We don’t send any player away but if he feels like he is not used like wants from us, he should think about it,” Hasenhuttl said at the time.
Hoedt is yet to feature in Hasenhuttl’s team, as the manager seemingly looks set on a central defence rotation of Jan Bednarek, Jannik Vestergaard, Maya Yoshida and Jack Stephens.
