Southampton ended the season with a 1-1 draw against relegated Huddersfield Town on the day Liverpool were denied the Premier League title.

Might as well add that last bit.

Southampton was unable to secure a 15th place finish after Nathan Redmond’s spectacular goal gave them the lead before half-time.

James Ward-Prowse nearly doubled the lead, but struck the crossbar with a thumping effort after the restart.

Instead, Alex Pritchard levelled off a goalkeeping error when Angus Gunn was caught in possession allowing the midfielder to tuck away easily for the equaliser.

A win would’ve seen Southampton climb above Burnley, who lost against Arsenal, but the draw saw them slip back into 16th place.
