Southampton are reportedly interested in signing young Nigerian striker David Okereke from Spezia according to the Daily Mail.

These reports come as Saints are thought to be growing tired of the transfer saga surrounding Birmingham City forward Che Adams.

It’s rumoured that the Blues have rejected two transfer bids for Adams - the last being worth £14m.

Saints’ Austrian manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has clearly placed a lot of importance on bolstering Southampton’s attacking options in the summer transfer window - having already signed Malian winger Moussa Djenepo from Standard Liege.

Okereke, who is capped at Under-23 level for his native Nigeria, played 30 games for Spezia in Serie B last season, netting 10 goals and assisting 12.

Aged 21, Okereke has previously been linked to moves to fellow English clubs West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion.
