Charlie Austin has reportedly told Southampton he doesn’t want to leave the club in the summer transfer window.
Austin has a year left on his Saints contract and according to TeamTalk, he wants to see the remainder of his current deal out on the South Coast.
The report also says Southampton and West Bromwich Albion agreet a transfer fee, but Austin rejected the chance to move down to the Championship.
If true, and it’s always important to consider truth in the silly season of the summer transfer window, this will be a bitter blow to the transfer plans of Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Hasenhuttl needs to sell players to buy more in order to shape a Saints team in his vision.
Austin is certainly not a part of Hasenhuttl’s plans, being left out of Southampton’s ongoing training camp in Austria.
