Southampton need to sell players to buy the ones manager Ralph Hasenhuttl needs and it looks like another one could be on his way.
According to reports from French news outlet L’Equipe [H/T Daily Echo], OGC Nice are in “advanced talks” with Southampton to buy former record signing Sofiane Boufal.
Saints have reportedly accepted a bid of just £8.5m for the Morroccan international, who signed for Southampton for a the club-record fee of £16m from Lille three years ago.
That’s a big loss of money.
The report says Boufal is now in talks with Nice, who are managed by former Arsenal stalwart Patrick Vieira.
Boufal spent last season at on loan at Celta Vigo and the Spanish club are said to be interested in having the winger back for another campaign on a temporary basis.
But Southampton need to free up funds and selling Boufal could help add some money into Hasenhuttl’s meager transfer kitty this summer.
