A day after Southampton capitulated at Burnley in a 3-0 drubbing to open the Premier League season, the Under-23s produced a stunning comeback to shock Manchester City 4-3 at the City Academy Stadium.

The Saints youngsters found themselves 2-0 down at half-time, before Kornelius Hansen pulled one back 10 minutes after the restart when the Norwegian caught the City goalkeeper in possession and the attempted clearance deflected into the goal.

Jayden Braaf, however, would double his tally on the game when he restored City’s two-goal lead with under 20 minutes left, but Southampton responded. Tom O’Connor and Dan N’Lundulu struck within quick succession, as Saints drew level over a two-minute stretch nearing full-time.

N’Lundulu, who is touted to make a first-team breakthrough, then completed the comeback with a stunning goal deep into added time to lift Southampton to the win on the opening day of the PL2 campaign.
