Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl praised the effect summer signing Moussa Djenepo had on his team on his debut for the club.
Unfortunately, Saints fell to a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday, but Djenepo’s introduction as a substitute helped add some impetus in Southampton’s attacking play as they chased an equaliser late on.

Hasenhuttl is seemingly happy to have Djenepo as an offensive player at his disposal for the season ahead.
“It’s important that you don’t give up,” Hasenhuttl said per the Southampton site. “I saw a team that was believing until the last minute. Unfortunately, okay is not good enough against teams like Liverpool.
“To win against such a team you need to have a perfect game and we didn’t quite have that.
“Bringing Moussa on was an offensive substitution. We tried to bring him into the game and force 1v1 situations and he had a few good ones.
“One situation was the moment where we created a chance. It’s good for him to come in and to be able to show strength first time.”
