Southampton completed the signing of FC Augsburg’s Kevin Danso.
The Austria Under-21 international, who grew up in England, joins Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side on loan and Southampton have the option to buy.
Danso has played in central midfield, but it’s apparent Hasenhuttl sees the 20-year-old as the man to solve Saints’ issues at centre-back.
“I’m delighted to join a club that has produced a lot of great players and I’m looking forward to working with such a great coach in Ralph Hasenhuttl as well,” Danso said per the BBC.
This deal concludes Southampton’s transfer window, which saw three others complete transfers to the club.
Danny Ings made his Southampton stint permanent, signing from Liverpool for £20m after spending last season on loan at Saints, his boyhood club.
Southampton also signed winger Moussa Djenepo from Standard Liege, and Birmingham City’s Che Adams.
It’s unclear whether Danso will be available for Saints’ visit to Burnley tomorrow, signalling the beginning of the new Premier League season.
