After last weekend’s victory over Burnley, Southampton have had a bit of an indifferent start to the 2020-21 campaign.
To start the season, Southampton were beat by Crystal Palace, before second-tier Brentford dumped Saints out of the Carabao Cup.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men then went on to get thumped 5-2 at home against Tottenham Hotspur.
One man who Saints have missed for a number of games through injury is Nathan Redmond, who picked up his knock in that 2-0 loss to Brentford in the EFL Cup.
Southampton play recently-promoted West Bromwich Albion on Sunday and Hasenhuttl has confirmed that Redmond is back in training and could be set for a return to the Saints first team.
That leaves the Austrian Saints boss with a little bit of a thinking to do as Moussa Djenepo, in flashes, has looked good while deputising for Redmond over recent games.
“It is definitely not [a headache], but yes,” Hasenhuttl said in his pre-match press conference when asked if Djenepo had impressed him. [H/T Hampshire Live]
“I think after the last two games you come to a point where one or two players are running out of energy and you need an alternative on the bench who can come on. This will be a big advantage.”
“I still have one more training session [on Friday] and after this session, I will decide.”
