Manchester United make the long trip down south to take on Southampton this afternoon at St Mary’s.
According to United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, two key United central midfielders in Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are unlikely to feature, having missed games and training this week.
Pogba has missed both of United’s last two games against West Bromwich Albion and Istanbal Basaksehir due to an ankle injury.
INJURY UPDATE: Two key men out for Southampton this afternoon
Meanwhile, McTominay missed the latter fixture with an unspecified injury. Both players did not train with the rest of the United squad on Friday according to the Norwegian manager.
Former Saint Luke Shaw is also expected to miss out after picking up a hamstring injury against Everton earlier this month.
However, a string of players with illness and fitness issues could be in contention to feature in the first team.
Jesse Lingard is back from a period of self-isolation after coming into contact with someone who tested positive for coronavirus. The likes of Marcus Rashford, Victor Lindelof and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are expected to be in the squad after some recent niggles, while it’s also thought that new signings Donny van de Beek and Edinson Cavani could be in line for their first starts at United.
