TEAM NEWS: Manchester United missing two central midfielders for Southampton visit
Southampton vs. Manchester United team and injury news
Southampton are unbeaten in their last seven matches games and find themselves sitting fifth in the Premier League table following their 1-1 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.
Today, they welcome Manchester United to St Mary’s for an intriguing clash which could indicate what to expect from Saints this campaign.
Last time the two teams played each other, Southampton grabbed a deserved, last-gasp equaliser at Old Trafford with Michael Obafemi’s goal in the dying minutes in their fixture last July.
In terms of team news, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl will be missing two key men in the Saints attack.
Danny Ings remains out following his knee injury picked up at Aston Villa in October. Meanwhile, Natham Redmond is sidelined with a hamstring strain.
Theo Walcott is expected to play despite breaking a bone in his left wrist.
For Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, he will not be able to call upon the services of former Saints defender Luke Shaw, who has a hamstring injury.
United midfield duo Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay are also fitness doubts, with the former missing both of United’s last two games against West Bromwich Albion and Istanbul Basaksehir.
