The Sun have reported that Ralph Hasenhüttl has signed a new contract at Southampton and will be announced tomorrow. The deal keep the Austrian manager on the South Coast through the summer of 2024.
With the news originally being reported in early April, the club seems set to make the announcement official tomorrow amid the upcoming return of the Premier League on June 17th.
With the squad set to return to play the weekend of June 19-21, Hasenhüttl has a tough run ahead of him, with Saints returning in 14th place and just seven points ahead of relegation with nine matches left on the season.
After the massive defeat at the hands of Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City in October the team hit a run of rejuvenation, fighting from as low as 19th in the league in November (at eight points) to their current position with 34 points, five points out of the top half.
The first Austrian to manage within the Premier League, Hasenhüttl brought the club from relegation danger in the 2018-2019 campaign, showing much promise with his high-press form of play.
Here’s to hoping the newly re-signed boss can keep up the momentum through the end of this season.
