It’s looking increasingly likely that Southampton’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will be leaving St Mary’s for either Tottenham or Everton.
According to German outlet Kicker, Saints are eyeing up Schalke midfielder Weston McKennie as a replacement for Hojbjerg if the Dane is set to leave Southampton.
McKennie, who boasts 19 caps for the United States Men’s National Team, is 21-years-old and has already racked up over 70 appearances for Bundesliga giants Schalke over the last four seasons.
Of those appearances, he has scored 6 goals for the USA and 4 for the Gelsenkirchen-based club.
However, the Kicker report also lists clubs such as Hertha Berlin, Liverpool, Leicester City and Newcastle as potential suitors.
Hojbjerg looks set to leave Saints in the hunt for continental competition. His contract expires at the end of the upcoming 2020/21 Premier League season.
