Southampton have the alien feeling of playing two home games in a row. Like against Leeds United last weekend, another club from England’s north is set to make the long trip south today.
While Saints picked up their first win of the Premier League season last Saturday, Burnley are yet to earn a victory this season and will be itching to set that record straight at St Mary’s today.
Southampton vs Burnley: Saints team news | Who is available to be selected by Hasenhuttl?
Sean Dyche’s Burnley could miss some important players for today’s game.
Clarets captain Ben Mee missed last week’s loss to Manchester City after testing positive for COVID-19. The defender has since returned from isolation, but it’s unclear whether he would be the condition required to play.
Matej Vydra and Charlie Taylor were also out for that game against City last weekend due to injury.
All three players are to be assessed ahead of the Southampton match.
Dale Stephens is confirmed to be unavailable for the trip to St Mary’s. He is still recovering from an ankle injury picked up earlier in the season, though he has made it back to the training pitch.
