Southampton vs Aston Villa team news

It’s Bonfire Night here in the United Kingdom and there are set to be fireworks at St Mary’s this evening as Southampton welcome Aston Villa to the South Coast in this Premier League clash.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints are coming off a big win away at Watford last weekend but will face a Villa side who are determined to overturn their poor run of form.

Barring the injured Jack Stephens, Hasenhuttl has a full squad to select from.

Armando Broja, on loan from Chelsea, is back in contention to play after missing Saints’ Watford win last weekend with an ankle problem. Moussa Djenepo also missed the victory at Vicarage Road, but returns to the squad.

The big news leading up to the game was Danny Ings’ return to his former stomping ground after joining Villa from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

However, the goalscorer is said to be unavailable with an undisclosed muscle injury.

Villa boss has some other selection headaches to contend with. Douglas Luiz and Bertrand Traore remain sidelined with injury, while Ezri Konsa is out for certain as he serves his suspension following his red card against West Ham United last weekend.
