West Ham vs Southampton team news

The festive football period gets underway today amid the backdrop of the Omicron Covid-19 strain forcing the cancellation of a number of Premier League and Football League games across England and Wales.

Saints’ clash against Brentford getting cancelled has allowed a few players some extra time to regain fitness ahead of today’s trip to West Ham United.

Stuart Armstrong might feature for the first time since the start of November after a reoccurrence of his calf injury.

Che Adams, Adam Armstrong and Fraser Forster are also likely to be available after overcoming their injury issues.

At the time of writing, there is no news of Southampton having any coronavirus cases.

West Ham are sweating on the availability of striker and former Southampton player Michail Antonio, who tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

It’s expected that Aaron Cresswell will be available for the Hammers after overcoming his fitness problems, while Vladimir Coufal is available after serving a one-game suspension.
