Southampton’s injury problems won’t go away.
Key players including Danny Ings, Jannik Vestergaard, Kyle Walker-Peters, Stuart Armstrong, Nathan Redmond and Moussa Djenepo have all had either long-term injuries or have had on-off battles with injury throughout the current 2020-21 Premier League season so far.
Oriol Romeu is another player on that list of important players who has had to battle injury issues and recently made his return to the first team.
Unfortunately for Saints and Romeu, he sustained a fractured ankle against Leeds United on Tuesday and that will see him miss the rest of the season.
“He has a fracture on his ankle - it will take a minimum of three months until he is back”, said Saints manager Ralph Hasenhuttl on Friday.
Central midfield has become another problem area for Southampton in terms of squad depth and this will be a big blow to Hasenhuttl.
Saints take on Everton on Monday and will be also missing Walker-Peters, Ibrahima Diallo, Theo Walcott and Takumi Minamino.
