Southampton’s training camp in Wales ended with a 3-1 victory away at Swansea City ahead of the new Premier League season.

Championship side Swansea went ahead after 15 minutes when Saints defender Mohamed Salisu put the ball in his own net to gift the Swans the lead.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men fought back strongly and quickly equalised thanks to a Nathan Tella goal.

Southampton soon struck again to go ahead in the game. Nathan Redmond led a counter attack before playing the ball to Moussa Djenepo, who then played a pass back to Redmond that saw the winger slot the ball home.

In the second half, Saints extended their lead when Stuart Armstrong executed a smart finish to score from Shane Long’s play out wide.

Saints looked comfortable throughout the contest - exemplified when Tella immediately equalised after his side initially went behind.

This was Swansea’s final friendly ahead of their Championship opener against Blackburn Rovers next weekend.

Southampton have two more friendlies before the start of their Premier League campaign against Everton on 14 August.

Saints will take on two La Liga sides in Levante and then Athletic Bilbao to round off pre-season.
