Southampton are set to host high-flyers West Ham United on Saturday afternoon in the fourth game of this Premier League season.
Saints are chasing their first win of this 2021-22 campaign, while The Hammers lie 2nd in the league standings at this stage.
There is some bad team news for the Southampton fans who will pack out St Mary’s Stadium at 3pm.
Stuart Armstrong will remain on the sidelines as he recovers from the calf injury that has seen him not play a minute of football for Saints so far this season.
Theo Walcott is also set to miss out after picking up a “small issue”, according to manager Ralph Hasenhuttl.
Will Smallbone, who has been sidelined with a knee injury for the last nine months, is close to returning to training with the first team, but remains a long way off from appearing in a match.
The only other noted absence is Shane Long. The Republic of Ireland international is self-isolating in a hotel after a testing positive for COVID-19 while on duty for his country.
