Southampton vs Crystal Palace team news
13th-placed Southampton welcome 14th-placed Crystal Palace to St Mary’s Stadium today.
As their respective places in the Premier League standings suggests, there was little between the two sides when they met earlier on in the season, which was a 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.
In terms of team news, Saints were dealt a heavy blow following last weekend’s draw against Brighton & Hove Albion.
Young right-back Tino Livramento went off with a knee injury during that game and it has since been confirmed that he tore his anterior cruciate ligament. It’s unlikely we will see Livramento play for Southampton before 2023.
Alex McCarthy is said to be nearing full fitness, though he is unlikely to unseat Fraser Forster in Saints’ net after the latter has impressed since returning as Southampton’s starting goalkeeper.
Patrick Vieira’s Palace has some positive news on the injuries front.
Tyrick Mitchell has recovered from the issue that saw him miss Palace’s draw against Leeds United, while midfield stalwart Luka Milivojevic is nearing a return from the thigh injury that has kept him out of action for two games.
