Tottenham vs Southampton team news

The Premier League is back and today’s pairing of Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton offers a lot of intrigue.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte appears to have enjoyed a transfer window for a change, bringing in an experienced head in Ivan Perisic and some squad-improving players like Richarlison from Everton and Yves Bissouma from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Meanwhile, Southampton have brought in a raft of young signings, such as Manchester City pair Gavin Bazunu and Romeo Lavia, as well as Armel Bella-Kotchap from Bochum and Sekou Mara from Bordeaux. Joe Aribo is Saints’ most experienced summer signing, joining from Rangers, and he looks ready to slot straight into the Southampton starting XI.

In terms of team news, Tottenham could be without two of those aforementioned transfers.

Richarlison is suspended, serving his last match of a two-game ban after throwing a flare into the crowd while he was at Everton. Bissouma is an injury doubt due to a ‘minor hamstring strain’.

Oliver Skipp is the only other reported Spurs absentee.

Southampton have three players who are confirmed to be sidelined for today’s game.

Wingers Theo Walcott and Nathan Tella are set to miss out due to respective fitness and knee issues.

Tino Livramento remains a long-term absentee for Southampton as he recovers from his knee injury.
